Solitary. Mostly found on sandy bottoms near coastal coral and rocky reefs, where it perfectly blends into the environment. Its first dorsal ray has been modified into fishing rod and lure, much like the one frogfish posses. Predates on fish and octopuses. Have been observed to attack and kill mimic, coconut octopus and wonderpus.
