They live in sandy, muddy and sea grass areas, and are often found buried in the soft bottom during day. They comes out of their burrows during high tides and at night, when they looks for prey (bivalves, fish and sometimes macroalgae).

5- 65 m depth, length up to 20 cm, Male is bright blue, female brown grey. Commercially fished.
