Elbert has been working as a dive guide for about 6 years but he has been working in the dive industry since 1998, first as a technician for engines and then as a boat captain, so he really understands the workings of a dive business.
He has extensive experience diving all over North Sulawesi, having worked in Bangka, Bunaken and Lembeh as well as leading dives in more remote islands north of Manado.
Elbert’s excitement about diving and love for the ocean is obvious and you can tell he does this not just as a job, but because it is his passion. He described one of his most exciting dives, where he was lucky enough to see a Mola-Mola, and will never forget how wonderful it was to see this rare creature.
When not diving, Elbert likes spending time with his wife and Daughter Carmen, named at the suggestion of a Spanish guest diving with Elbert at the time of his wife’s pregnancy. He also enjoys playing football, singing, and studying history – his favourite historical figure is Napoleon Bonaparte. Interesting and true fact: originally Elbert was going to be named Elba, like the island where Napoleon was exiled!
