Our recent 12 day trip in February was our fourth visit back to Critters at Lembeh, formerly Lembeh Resort. A number of improvements were obvious from the start. The cottages have been updated with all new bedding and linen. The food in the past was acceptable for a dive resort, but this trip it was obvious their chef has been concentrating on pleasing guests with his best recipes. The food was excellent quality with varied options for each meal. A real plus when you need to eat all your meals at the resort.
As usual the diving was excellent. It seems to only improve with each visit. The high points included: Blue Ring Octopus with eggs, Boxer Crabs, Hairy Frogfish, Mimic and Coconut Shell Octopus, mating Mandarinfish, Pygmy seahorses, multiple species of Frogfish and Cuttlefish, in addition to all the usual varied inhabitants that are too numerous to mention. Dive operation managers, Kerri Bingham and Hergen Spalink run a well organized shop, ideal for photographers needs. They assign an experienced dive guide to every three divers and the camera room is the largest and best equipped I’ve seen. Dimpy Jacobs, onsite marine biologist, shares her expertise with the guests.
For the past 19 years, we have been diving all over the world. The combination of Indonesian hospitality, superb accommodations, and excellent diving, makes this resort our favorite “muck diving” destination.

We had a wonderful time here. The diving is excellent, with very helpful and accommodating dive
guides to help all fully experience it! The resort is very attractive and comfortable, and the food is delicious and varied, while offering an introduction to the local cuisine.

Fantastic week. I don't know how the dive guides can find the tiny 1 cm camouflaged
creature hiding behind a crinoid beautiful!! Still waiting for that psychedelic frogfish....

Everything was great and hope to come back again!

Well-run dive shop with excellent service & comunication very knowledgeable & professional local dive staff who are multilingual (we were impressed by Japanese-fluent Andy!) Also impressed by Tomy & Paulus who can spot hatching squid from what seems like a mile! Everyone was thoughtful, polite & made the diving holiday both below & above the the surface, a memorable experience. Recommended!

Amazing Time!

It was a short stay, but we enjoy everything. The dives, our room and the best dinner!!!

Spending Xmas miles away from home was a first for me. Thanks a lot to the discrete resort and dive staff/guides for making this stay enjoyable and relaxing. I have never seen so many critters and other stuff in just 5 dive days (blue ring and hairy octopusses among other things, nudis, ghostpipes, seahorses etc...). Something interessant on each dive. I will return in 2010 that is for sure. Really a must go for macro photographers... and divers. Happy new year 2010.

November 4th thru 10th.

My third visit in the last two years and it keeps getting better. Finally saw the Flamboyant Cuttlefish and the Blue ringed Octopus! Thanks to the Dive team and Thank you Lembeh Resort for the outstanding accommodations. I'll be planning my return next November.
