POPCORN SHRIMP Periclimenes kororensis
« »
Lives in pairs among the feeding tentacles of mushroom coral Heliofungia actiniformis and on several anemone species. Easily to distinguish for its white spiky head and brown upper part of the body. The fact that the rest of the animal, its abdomen, legs and claws are transparent gave this species a ‘popcorn’ appearance and hence the common name.
