Manado airport is serviced four times per week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat) direct from Singapore by Silk Air, sister carrier of Singapore Airlines. There are also several daily flights from Jakarta and Bali. Our staff will greet you with a smile at the airport terminal.

You will need a tourist visa to enter Indonesia, which can be issued on arrival at the airport citizens of most nationalities. A 30-day visa costs US$25. Clean, crisp $20 & $5 bills will help expedite the transaction at the airport (Rupiah also is accepted).

Alternatively, you may apply for a visa before you leave home by contacting the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in your country. The official language in Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia. The staff at Lembeh Resort are multilingual and English is widely spoken. Our Dive Center Manager is fluent in German, Dutch & French, and our Dive Guide Andi speaks Japanese.

Indonesian currency is the Rupiah (IRP). Money is easily changed at banks and official money changing offices. However exchange rates can fluctuate. ATM machines are readily available and banks will provide cash withdrawal via the Visa and MasterCard networks. If you bring cash it is best to use clean, crisp, new bills. US$100 bills receive a better exchange rate than $50, $20 etc.

When settling your bill, Lembeh Resort accepts US dollars, Euros and Japanese Yen. We also accept Visa and MasterCard.

• There is no vaccination needed for North Sulawesi, however - We are advising all travelers to visit either their personal physician or a travel health clinic 4-8 weeks before departure.

• There are cases of malaria and dengue fever in North Sulawesi. If you plan to travel overland throughout the region you may consider precaution. If you are susceptible to mosquito bites, we have lotions available in the gift shop.

• GMT + 08:00 - Singapore, Sulawesi, Bali, Lombok and Komodo are all the same time.
• Clocks do not change in Indonesia.

• There are three Standard Time zones:

Sumatra, Java and West & Central Kalimantan are 7 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+7)
Bali, Nusa Tenggara, South & East Kalimantan and Sulawesi are 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8)
Irian Jaya and Maluku are 9 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+9)

We are miles away from recent conflict, we are in a mainly Christian area (70-80%), and haven’t had any major security issue in the last years that we have been in operation. In Lembeh Resort trained security officers are on duty 24 hours a day.

• Daily - Clothing It's normally shorts and T-shirt by day (even if it rains, because it's warm tropical rains) and at night in town the dress code is casual. For Diving we suggest a 3mm or 5mm one-piece (or dive-skin for those who don't get easily chilled) - make sure it's full arms and legs, to protect against any stinging hydroids.

• Every day - Clothing - normally shorts and t-shirts are sufficient for the day (even if it rains, because it's warm tropical rains), and light trousers at night, perhaps with a long-sleeve shirt for bugs 'n mosquitoes.

There are plenty of chemists and dentists in close by Bitung and the general hospital in Manado has a good recompression chamber.

24-hour pharmacies are quite common in Manado, and can be found in the other major population centers, as well. Prices are quite reasonable, and nearly any standard medication can be found. Do not buy medications from street vendors. We do not recommend medications from street vendors.

If you leave Indonesia from Manado, an international departure tax of Rupiah 100.000 is paid at the airport. If your onward journey is within Indonesia, the domestic departure tax from Manado is currently Rupiah 30.000.
