This sponge is distinctive as it is shaped like a big fan with varying colors including yellow, brown, green, blue and purple. This species is often a host for Pleurosicya gobies, as well as a good place to spot giant frog fish.

This species has a pink color and osculum of various widths that are surrounded with finger like protuberances. The ridges often have rounded protuberances on the outer margins.
