Body coloration ranges from yellow to gold, with white to blue spots on the head, upper body, and dorsal fins. Faint body bands may or may not be present. Shares its burrow with alpheid shrimp in sheltered sandy and muddy bottom habitats. Found at depths of 2 to 15 meters.
