Inimicus didactylus
Devil Scorpionfish
A solitary species, occasionally seen in pairs or small groups during mating. It is often found half-buried in sand, rubble, silt, or mud, with only its goggle-like eyes protruding. It may also be seen “walking” across soft substrates using its finger-like pectoral fins. Coloration is highly variable, ranging from gray and brown to black, red, and orange. When threatened, it displays the brightly colored undersides of its pectoral fins as a warning.
