Under color shade of yellow with numerous blue stripes from head to tail, black oscillated spot on tail base , dark saddle bar behind head. Young adult trail with long filament from dorsal and anal fins. Can be found at coral or sandy area.

As juveniles, this species closely resembles M. macularis, but has a more typical body shape. The base color is whiter, with black stripes and white blotches. Juveniles range in size from 4 to 15 cm. As adults, they grow up to 20-60 cm in length. The coloration changes to gray or brown with numerous distinct blotches. They have large eyes with a golden iris and are typically solitary, found on reefs.

This species have a very different color and shape changing. At juvenile it has a very beautiful shape with black and white variation of color the body size is about 4-15 cm, and it can be found hang out at black coral or crinoids . And when it getting intermediate part of grown the body size is up to 15-25 cm and the base color are black and have some scatters small and medium spots along the body, and at the lower part of the body have white color and white stripe from the middle side of the body until tail. When it getting the adult stage the base color is became mix yellow, blue and white spots, and the body size is grow up to 60 cm.
