Black Snapper
As juveniles, this species closely resembles M. macularis, but has a more typical body shape. The base color is whiter, with black stripes and white blotches. Juveniles range in size from 4 to 15 cm.
As adults, they grow up to 20-60 cm in length. The coloration changes to gray or brown with numerous distinct blotches. They have large eyes with a golden iris and are typically solitary, found on reefs.
