Brian McDairmant is an award-winning Director of Photography from the UK, with almost 40 years' experience in documentaries, drama, natural history, commercials and music promos. He is a nominee and winner of BAFTA, EMMY and RTS awards.
Brian has made numerous high-profile series and specials for major international television broadcasters … but mostly on dry land.
His work for the BBC’s Natural History Unit includes LIFE OF MAMMALS, WILD CHINA, TRIALS OF LIFE, PLANET EARTH with David Attenborough and a number of films for the award-winning NATURAL WORLD series.
Most recently, Brian worked on a special for PBS’ science series, NOVA featuring the latest archaeological research on the 2200-year-old Terracotta Army of the First Emperor of China. He has also shot other documentaries for Discovery Channel, National Geographic Television, Channel 4 (UK) and the BBC.
Brian is relatively new to underwater photography – to date he has only had 4 dive trips using his underwater camera housing - but very much enjoys the challenge of learning from each dive experience. For him, it is a great way of combining his love of scuba with his first love, photography.
