Critters at Lembeh Resort

ABOUT CRITTERS
AT LEMBEH RESORT

Scuba diving with Critters at Lembeh Resort – our world renowned Dive Centre.

Critters at Lembeh Resort is at the forefront of diving in the Lembeh Strait. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals striving to meet two common goals: Sharing our knowledge and passion with you, and making your stay in Lembeh an experience like no other dive trip you have ever made.

At Critters at Lembeh Resort, we don’t just have staff that know a bit about marine life: We have on-site, full-time Marine Biologists who are studying and continuously making discoveries about the marine life here in Lembeh. We don’t just have dive staff that are interested in photography: We have an on-site, full-time dedicated Photo Pro whose work has been published internationally. Our dive guides are not just trained to guide divers – they spend hours in workshops with our professionals learning about photography, marine life identification and behaviors and when they are not studying in the classroom, they are diving!

STARGAZER

Lembeh Strait is famous for having an extraordinarily high concentration of rare and unusual benthic marine life.

SYMBIOSIS

Critters at Lembeh Resort dive guides are trained by our full time marine biologist to intimately understand the behaviour of the critters of Lembeh Strait. We go the extra mile to ensure you have the best possible diving experience.

RELAX

The calm conditions of the muck dives in Lembeh Strait offer a uniquely relaxed diving experience.

Out for a stroll

A hairy frogfish walking over the sand on it’s specially adapted fins. This species of frogfish is highly adapted to live in sandy marine habitats. Although may not look threatening, hairy frogfish are one of the Lembeh Straits most voracious predators.

When the night comes

Night diving is something not to be missed while staying at Lembeh Resort. A large variety of unique species appear after the sun sets.

Experience matters

With over a collective 70,000 logged dives, the Critters at Lembeh Resort dive guides have a tremendous amount of experience. They pride themselves on showing you the best that the Lembeh Strait has to offer.

Critters at Lembeh Resort facilities

Our dive center (Critters at Lembeh Resort) is world renowned for its expertise, experienced dive guides and exclusive service. You’ll find Critters at Lembeh Resort located at the heart of the resort. Critters at Lembeh Resort facilities include a photo center, camera room and gear area. You’ll find everything is close to hand and the dive center team are always on hand to help with any questions you may have.

Each diver has their own spacious, personal locker area with drying pegs for boots and hangers for suits and BCDs. There are long benches for kitting-up and a briefing area with big whiteboards to help you plan your diving program and keep an eye on the day’s events. Before your first dive of the day, your gear will be loaded onto the boat and assembled as you like it. You just do a quick check. After your last dive of the day, the team will see that your equipment is carried from the boat, rinsed in fresh water and properly hung up to dry. Wetsuits are washed in special soap every two or three days, on request and after the last dive of your trip. There are individual rinse tanks for cameras, dive gear and wetsuits. Our boat crews and dive guides will treat your dive and camera gear with the utmost respect it deserves.

The spacious camera room is just steps away from the boats and is the perfect place to keep, organize and set up your camera, housing and photography accessories. Private workstations with power plugs (220V) are available for everyone and just outside there are rinse tanks and air guns for blasting water off your housing after rinsing.

All Critters at Lembeh Resort dive boats are custom-built with divers’ comfort and convenience in mind. There are ample padded areas for your camera and hooks and storage areas for your dive accessories. Boats are all covered for protection from the sun, have a toilet on board, emergency oxygen, first aid kits and lifejackets. Critters at Lembeh Resort staff are all trained every year in CPR, first aid and emergency rescue procedures. Boats are fully equipped with spare tanks and spare dive equipment as well as towels, drinking water and fresh fruit. For double dive trips there is also hot water for coffee or tea as well as snacks and biscuits.

Dive briefings take place on the boat and we use our famous Critter Log, a book of laminated photos, to show you what you may see on your dive. It’s also fun to consult the Critter Log after the dive and compare notes with your buddies on what you saw.

Critters at Lembeh Resort aims to make your diving in Lembeh like no other diving you have experienced before. Our boats return to the resort after each dive which means you can choose the best dive times for you, we also offer private guides and private boats for those who would like a more exclusive service.

For those want to venture further afield we are also able to make full day trips, with three dives, to the reefs around Bangka Island and to the east coast of Lembeh Island. These phenomenal reefs are teeming with life and bursting with color.

Underwater photography is in our DNA at Critters at Lembeh Resort. All of our guides and dive staff understand not only what you are looking for, but also what it takes to successfully photograph it. Whether you are new to underwater imaging or a seasoned shooter, our onsite Photo Pro and Camera Center can provide the support to maximize your underwater photography experience at Lembeh Strait. This is the premier muck diving destination in Indonesia for divers who love not only critter diving but also underwater photography, macro photography and wide angle photography.
