Bangka Island offers pristine corals reefs which are literally bursting with color and teeming with life. For anyone who wants to combine muck diving in Lembeh with phenomenal reef diving, a day trip to Bangka Island is a must.
Topside scenery as we make our way around the northern tip of mainland Sulawesi is simply breathtaking; white sand beaches, secluded coral coves and crystal clear lagoons punctuate the coastline. Dive sites around Bangka island include rock pinnacles, sloping reefs and drop offs. Soft corals adorn most dive sites making them awash with color. Passing pelagics are frequently spotted around Bangka Island including eagle rays, reef sharks, tuna, barracuda and schooling mackerel and fusiliers. Keep an eye out to the blue – you never know what may make an appearance!
Wide angle underwater photography opportunities are limitless on Bangka’s reefs. Fields of soft corals, encrusted pinnacles, huge table corals and schooling fish all make perfect imaging subjects. Of course, this wouldn’t be North Sulawesi without critters – and a plethora of macro life can be found among the reef.
Our Bangka Island day trips are three dive trips with lunch served at Murex Bangka Resort or on the boat according to the conditions.
Day trips depart after breakfast at 8.00am and return to Lembeh Resort at around 4.00pm. Trips can be arranged either in advance (recommended for groups) or in resort and are subject to availability. A boat surcharge of US $260 applies (to be divided among participants).
